Overland To India & Nepal In 1973
This is some kind of travel journal that remembers the days when tens of thousands of young people took off from Europe to travel across Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan in order to reach India and Nepal.
In 1973 there were no ATMs, no mobile phones and no internet.
Communication with friends and family was by letter (do you remember them?) to Poste Restante addresses and was famously unreliable. Money was carried in cash and traveller’s cheques and changed into local currency as required.
We were young, naive and living the dream.
